WordPress Web Developer

My name is Rob McDonald and I am a WordPress Web Developer. What does that mean, you say, well it means that I specialize in website development with WordPress only. I started in 2007 when I was a member of my daughter’s skate club and I was asked to take over management of her Club website. I really didn’t know what that meant at the time, but was determined to learn. This was my first introduction to the WordPress platform.

After pretty much-learning everything I needed to know to update the Club site, I started to learn how to make it look different. This is where the magic of WordPress began for me, as I was able to take other themes and change the look and feel of the site. later, I felt restricted with the themes, so I started learning more about HTML and CSS. For a few years, I started working on other websites, mainly volunteering my time, based on what I had learned, to friends, family and some businesses. Then, I thought, I’m getting pretty good at this, maybe I should get paid to do it. So I put together my own website and became hooked on web design and development. Then I learned about Genesis.

Genesis was a perfect fit for me. I was able to take just about any website and make it look and do whatever I wanted it to do. I was able to fully customize any website to my client’s specifications. Next, I started building my own WordPress themes. No longer would I take a WordPress theme off-the-self and customize it. I started building customer themes from scratch and adding functions and features that only the specific customer wanted. This totally makes a website unique and different from any other.

So this brings me to where I am today. My current site, RobMcDonald.net. I offer a one-stop solution for your website needs. I can design, develop, host and maintain your website so that you can focus on your business and not have to worry about your website.

A Little More About Me

In addition to being a Web Developer, I am also an Accountant and received my degree from the University of Memphis in 1999. So I do know a little bit about the financial world as well.

I would say that Web Developing is my passion, and Accounting is my career. I also have a background in Journalism, so writing was once and still is, a passion of mine.

I was not a techie type when I began, so it was really challenging for me to make my way through all of the web jargon and understand how to use HTML or CSS code to be able to make and build a design that was unique and truly my own.

I have since that time, became an avid advocate of the WordPress platform. I truly believe that it is the best and easiest platform to use, whether it be for a personal Blog or a full-featured Business Website. All of the websites that I build are developed using WordPress.

I’m from the Memphis area originally, but I moved to Tampa in 2007. I love the Florida lifestyle and when I am not working, I am either at the beach reading, or spending time with my 3 favorite fur balls, Guido, Rosie, and Donatello.
